Personally… I’d say it’s because some people have trouble viewing EVERYONE equally. The ACLU does it’s best to do that and I think it bothers the heck out of people who like things to be a certain way.

  2. romeosevendelta says:

He does it to ensure that people continue to watch his show.

Positive messages about religion offend me, though probably not to the same extent that negative ones offend the religious, as my identity and world view do not rest upon a premise for which there is (and by definition cannot be) no evidence. Also, offensiveness isn’t a valid measure, as there are plenty of people who are “offended” by objective facts, e.g. evolution happens, the earth is not 4000 years old, etc. Speech should still be free, even if it’s offensive. Go ACLU!

  4. sidewayznut2009 says:

Sorry but ACLU was wrong in this case. Positive messages about religion don’t OFFEND ANYONE negative messages do and it doesn’t matter what religion it is. I totally agree with the schools in this case they did the right thing.

I know the point is that they are only smearing the ACLU but they were defending a shitty cause.

  5. CireAknow says:

Bill O’Reilly’s bitterness towards the good folks at the ACLU stems from their refusal to take his case in regards to sexual explicit phone calls to your producer being free speech.

  6. Forthelulz01 says:

I hate bill O’Reily. He’s either purposely lying to the world about stuff like this, or completely ignorant to what organizations like the ACLU actually are.

  7. tishalastre says:

You are so full of hatred towards the peole that is not your kind. Most of religions, even the cristian church, “promote” Homophobia, & misogyny, and that is why people are turning off religions. But the real deal is how you live your life and how you live with religion.

Democracy is not nesesarily the best goverment system, It depends on how culturized the people is, if the people is stupid, then democracy is the key to pandemonioum, check venezuela as an example.

  8. tishalastre says:

NO, I am not European, I am Latin American, and I believe that every single person decerves their place on the world, while they don’t harm others, NO MATTER WHAT RELIGION THEY ARE. So in my world the racists like you, have their spot as well.

Islam is no threat to anyone, REAL islam, It’s completelly ovious that you didn’t care to make a little research, and realize that islam is not what the EXTREMIST AND TERRORIST say in their speches, the islam is a religion for peace.

  9. adzug says:

no i know it was just exp to illustrate power of 1 person extended to the masses

  10. CaptainVideo890 says:

It don’t the the Nazis were motivated by religion, though Hitler sort of used his as a rally point early on.

  11. adzug says:

thats always the rub aint it? but if the vast majority start going with the philosophy of the leader then that is the relig. now this is the extreme case but nazi germany is a case exp. at times and in some cases relig is the prob.

  12. CaptainVideo890 says:

It is clear to me that you have thought through this issue thoroughly, and I thank you for that. However, most religions are just ways for a community to crystallize it’s ideas about good and evil, and when someone tries to use it to increase their own power, the problem is with them, not the religion.

  13. adzug says:

ive studied comparitive relig a long time. im fascinated with the subject. but relig is used by ppl to promote their agendas and bamboozle the poor. but its the story of ppl trying to make sense outta the world too. its a powerful force that needs to be kept in check becuz of power abuses.

  14. drone81 says:

watching religious people slapfight about which religion is better than the other is like watching two three year-olds smack each other with their dicks. it’s incredibly embarassing to behold, but it’s just so ridiculous you can’t really turn away

  15. Verrimgard says:

Answer to your first question: Because O’Rielly basically thinks that he IS america, and the rest of us are just sort of here messing up his stuff.

    Or close enough anyway.

And for your second question: No. It makes no sense to allow positive statements, but to refuse negative statements. I mean, what the hell? You can express yourself, but only in a positive manner? No. Just, no dude, not cool. Even if that doesn’t snowball, it’s not right.

  16. CaptainVideo890 says:

Well you aren’t exactly it’s biggest fan.

  17. CaptainVideo890 says:

You most definitely have a right to not be offended by a religion. Just don’t be offended by it. But don’t go crying to the government.

  18. CaptainVideo890 says:

You do know that the road outside your house is public property, right? If the freedom of speech were banned there, which you for some strange reason so desperately desire, your little friends, the NYC Atheists, wouldn’t be able to beg for converts on the city streets.

  19. riseofatheism says:

Being protected from religion means that you maintain your right not to be offended or bothered unnecessarily by people who don’t believe what you do. This is the problem with third world countries. Religion runs the government, and religion silences everyone who doesn’t believe as they do.

  20. riseofatheism says:

You absolutely have the right to proselytize. Just not on government property. I encourage proselytizing. But doing so on government property, r by government paid employees, is and should remain illegal. This protects everyone. So you don’t have to go to school and be preached to by a paganist, a satanist, a Christian, a Muslim, an atheist or what have you. This is for everyones protection, so that there is no conflict, or fighting. Religion causes violence.

  21. CaptainVideo890 says:

I get it, the government gives you the freedom of speech, just not the freedom to change anyone’s mind.

  22. riseofatheism says:

On government property, proselytizing is illegal. Freedom from religion as well. Remember that.

  23. adzug says:

    thats not true but watever

  24. CaptainVideo890 says:

Why would that be? The Constitution prohibits the government from denying anyone the right to free speech.

  25. CaptainVideo890 says:

That wasn’t directed at you. I have no reason to trust your opinion anyway, you just hate religion.
