Carl Sagan is a life long hero of mine and I know almost as much as anyone can without ever meeting him. Carl Sagan has said that we must realize that we are not American or Canadian, etc., but Earthlings/Earthicans/whatever. He also said how would we explain what we do on Earth to an Alien observer (He never meant they are watching us). Not to mention the fact he tries to dismiss UFO theory which yours is one of them.

The world would be much better off without the Abrahamic religions — they have been the source behind centuries of war, violence, oppression, and psychological tyranny. And is dissatisfied with the amount of people who believe in bronze age superstitions, so they choose not to reveal themselves? He certainly did no such thing. He believed that there are alien races out there, as do I. But to think they are on our doorstep, but choosing not to reveal themselves is, let me be frank, preposterous.
