Actually… not to purposely extend this discussion…
Humans could only move a certain way, with billions of humans in this world there will tend to be some martial arts that is similar to one another in form. And for those who received enlightenment, will eventually think the same way…
For example, there are forms in Capoeira that resembles Monkey Kung Fu.. but that doesn’t necessarily mean a Shaolin monk taught Capoeira…
And Pencak Silat forms… not exactly Chinese…
with all due respect, but it`s a well-known fact, that chinese traders and monks brought their culture including their martial arts to southeast asia including thailand, indonesia and the philippines. that`s exactly the reason why some arnis moves exactly look like wing chun or baji.
hsing-yi was developed by daoist hermits and refined by buddhist, not necesssarily shaolin monks. the muslim hui minority happened to learn from the han-chinese.
This statement may be true if you consider Eastern as the far east only (China, Korea, Japan)… but I don’t think Muay Thai (Thailand), Silat (Malay/Indonesia), and Kali Eskrima (Filipino) falls into this category of Shaolin…
Are you sure that you are not getting this Bājíquán (八極拳 – the eight extreme fist) mixed up with the Taoist martial art of Bāguàzhăng (八卦掌 – the eight trigram palm)?
A Hsing-I practitioner once told me that Hsing-I was developed by a Chinese muslim general also…
you all pigs, wulianzhi is the only best baji master in the world!you have no right to discuss him or his baji~wu baji, best baji, invincible baji, master wulianzhi could easily single handed pick up anybody, and perform every night before sleep. and he is good at drinking, 500 ml 52degree alcohol is nothing for him.
bingo bongo wu tang bimbo
oh the earliest version of baji is supposed to have been invented by a wandering taoist monk…
lol, there are plenty versions about the origins of baji. according to some chinese scholars it`s a modification of hsing yi. on the other hand, a few believe it derives from shaolin etc.
i rather believe that chinese taoists or buddhists taught the original version of baji to muslims (non-hans).
“Shaolin is home to all Eastern martial arts.”
Bajiquan’s creator, Wu Zhong, was a Muslim. He also created the style Piguaquan.
How do you ppl understand the documentary? :S It’s in chinese :S
but i was talking about the heritage. baji`s founder was definitely not muslim but somehow chinese muslims grew fond of it in the past centuries.
it can still be muslim even though its chinese
yu suzuki!!!
lol, but baji ain`t a muslim invention. it was taught to a few muslims. it`s still strictly chinese.
me too, but the images are really awesome too
they all have Shandong accent, hehe
Allahu Akbar! The Islamic History in China is a beautiful one.
i love baji but i only know english so this is hard…
Great documentary, thank you for posting! Too bad the quality of the video is not too consistent, part of the video is only in audio.
