Expert: Terrorism Juries Want “smoking Gun”

Charles Tucker, a human rights expert at Depaul University’s College of Law, says juries in terror cases have high expectations and increasingly want to see a “smoking gun” before they’ll return with a conviction. (Sept. 25)

Is this guy complaining that hard evidence is necessary to put people in jail? The number of innocent people in jail (and indefinite detention) is surely high enough to warrant this judicial barrier. Would he like our already abused civil rights to be further trampled on? What Constitutional protections remain? Are there really so many casualties from terrorist attacks that we need to risk a police state mentality? Do YOU know anyone hurt by terrorists? Do you even know anyone who knows ANYONE?
