Noam Chomsky – What exactly is terrorism?

Posted on December 11, 2009 | 25 Comments

Well one of my favorite writers/ speakers Noam Chomsky, On the definition of terrorism.

That’s why the U.S. uses private contractors…too risky to use foreign fighters who can turn against you. Better to use crazy christian mercenary crusaders, i.e. BlackWater.

  2. antidote7 says:

You are very welcome, anytime, lol…

I was going to reply to kingofnyct, who is obviously a fucking dick, but you’ve said all that needs to be said. Thank you.

  4. antidote7 says:

That’s funny, because we use terrorism to attain exactly what you’ve listed above! How do you think we became an empire? Be devaluing the worth of multi-millions the world over. Point is terrorism is terrorism even when we commit it! I think maybe you are the moron.

  5. kingofnyct says:

we are not immune from thuggery either! money power and women is also a good reason to watch out for politicians and powermongers in our own government.

  6. kingofnyct says:

this guy is a complete MORON! they hate us because these governments are thugs. thugs want money, women, and power. they want to make people poor so they can brainwash them into keeping them rich, laid, and powerful. it goes back to caveman times. none of this has anything to do with religion or ideology. its as simple as that, schmuck!

  7. CIPPALA says:

    democracy= NOAM CHOMSKY

  8. strategistFranco says:

America a Country? No man, America is an Empire because it is not one country but counts many countries. The United States of America!

  9. maddohartlepool says:

If you don’t believe that the CIA funds covert wars independently of Government – but with their full backing – just go check out the ‘Iran Contra’ affair on wikipedia for a great example, particularly great because Reagan got caught out giving the go ahead.

To see where the proceeds went go check out the International World Court of Justice website to see the court judgements where America was charged with International Terrorism against Nicaragua in the 80’s.

  10. maddohartlepool says:

You have to separate the Arms Sales that go on between US companies & foreign heads of State & the covert operations & Terrorism the CIA carries out separately.

Also, the government does sell arms as free trade & claims that it is every country’s right to defend itself, however many countries willing to murder & suppress their populations to uphold US business interests find that the flow of arms is cut off as soon as they start to disobey America; Noriega in Panama is one of many examples!

  11. boing3887 says:

i don’t think that’s quite it. i mean, if it’s all about free trade then we’d sell weapons to everyone, not select groups. there’s a very strong correlation between our interests and where our weapons go, that’s undeniable. and it’s well documented that the CIA often acts as a proxy in weapons sales between weapons manufacturers and buyers (who are often scum).

  12. boing3887 says:

but we in america, as chomsky points out, are unusually free. we can do and say things here without fear or threat of harm which in other countries woudld bring a club down on the skull or a bullet whizzing through the brains.

  13. barfrecords says:

it doesn’t matter whether your name is George or Saddam, if you are willing to pay the price you can get guns and drugs. That is what Free Trading is about, and it has nothing to do with the CIA.

  14. maddohartlepool says:

That’s not how the CIA funds it’s proxy wars. Remember the Iran/Contra affair? Whilst USA was funding & aiding Saddam to fight their proxy war against Iran, Reagan gave the go ahead to allow the CIA to sell arms to Iran to fund the Contra ‘rebels’ (terrorists) in Nicaragua.

The CIA is known to be involved in gun running & drugs trafficking to fund Terrorism also.

Also many dictators are given aid & arms to fight proxy wars & usually humanitarian reasons are given, which the public swallows.

  15. barfrecords says:

if that is so then it should show on the federal budget, which should be democratically controlled, which if not being done so proves that Americans are lame, not evil.

  16. maddohartlepool says:

No, Chomsky points out that the American GOVERNMENT funds more international Terrorism than any other country…in fact America is the only country to have been charged with International Terrorism by the World Courts after it attacked Nicaragua in the 80’s.

In this respect, America is the most evil country in the world.

  17. barfrecords says:

it is the greatest country in the world, and yes, terrorists too make use of the free market economy – in fact their trading and manufacturing prior to their evil activities is perfectly legal due to lack of legislation. About mr. Chomsky’s belief: I find it noble of him to lay responsibility in his own country.

  18. maddohartlepool says:

You understand that Chomsky believes that America is the greatest sponsor of Terrorism in the world, don’t you?

His believes that there is a strong correlation between the States that receive aid & arms from the USA & states that brutally repress their populations.

  19. WaarOmeter says:

Alex Jones is dumb dumb common it’s fun with beer and popcorn but what the. There are conspiracies but not like in the Alex Jones universe. That’s a galaxy far far away.

  20. barfrecords says:

Thank you, but I had never heard of Alex Jones. I had to find out about it all by myself, which is a bloody shame because I spent nearly all my life at world class educational institutions. I am still very angry at those so-called world class scholars for not teaching me this truth. Friends of mine died because of it, and it nearly killed me too.

  21. maddohartlepool says:

The media is a corporate system & it’s output is tantamount to propaganda & brainwashing as those employed in the broadcasting industry tend to come from the specialized educated classes & are therefore thouroughly indoctrinated into the system. Thus giving the media the power to ‘manufacture consent’ from the population for war or to dismantle social reforms.

There is undisputed evidence of this from many world class scholars. The evidence of what you are saying seems to come from Alex Jones.

  22. barfrecords says:

Try asking National Geographic for explanation and they’ll give you more crap that needs explanation. It is fascist doctrine, our minds are messed with at subconscious level. Their techniques are fascinating but fairly easy: it’s just radar and automated feedback. It’s dirty, it causes wars, indolence, mental diseases, disappearance of real social structures, etc. The mighty realm of the unreal – it is in fact controlling us now as we are wasting our time critiquing it

  23. maddohartlepool says:

Sorry, you will have to explain that one to me.

  24. WaarOmeter says:

Yeah that’s why our next playlist is called corporations and media maniacs. The final one is called indiginous (about media coverage of the third world). But our tube is only six weeks old can’t work wonders on such short notice. We also started our first blog today.

Also check out the start of our first series: Savages the quest for hegemony.

  25. barfrecords says:

the media don’t just do coverage, they do the actual terrorizing – try reading a book while tuned in to National Geographic and you’ll know what I’m talking about
